Man, Woman Accused Of Stealing $1.8K In Items From Store In Westchester

A man and a woman have been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $1,800 in merchandise from an area Lowe's store.

Peter Vetere, 47, of Brewster, and Carrie Walencik, of Danbury, Connecticut, were arrested by Yorktown Police on Friday, April 10, after receiving a theft complaint from the Lowe's in Yorktown, said Yorktown Police.

According to police, store managers contacted the department on Thursday, April 9 to report that Vetere and Walencik had alleged stolen merchandise and left the store. 

The next day, Friday, police were notified that the duo was back in the store. Officers responded and were able to apprehend the couple, police said.

An investigation found that the two allegedly stole $1,840 in goods, police said. They were placed under arrested and transported to the Yorktown Police Department.

Both Vetere and Walencik were charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and released on their own recognizance. 

They are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, May 21.
